The Camino de Santiago: The Horse and the ???

While hiking through the Pyrenees I spotted this very large bird on the rocks. I think it’s some kind of Vulture, but I’m not sure. You can see the scale of how large the bird is compared to the horse…and it looked like he was just waiting to swoop in and have it for lunch!

    Definitely looks like a vulture.

Having just finished El Camino 2 weeks ago after 37 days walking and 845 kms, I’m writing about those who inspired me to go and revisit your blog for souvenirs. Seeing your pictures this time with the experience behind me is so overwhelming; I know where the pictures were taken, I remember how I felt at the exact same spot; it feels so fantastic to realize that a picture your took in 2012 is so similar to one I might have taken in 2016.
Those horses with a bell colar in the fields along the road crossing the Pyrenees were so beautiful! And those birds watching over them, sometimes creepy. huh!?!

    Good times!

Oh wow! I’m so happy that my photos helped to inspire you to go on the journey. I hope it was an amazing experience. I can’t wait to go back and complete the full route, but until then I will live vicariously through others and remember the time I did get to spend walking through those beautiful places!

It was fabulous! I know I did it but I still can’t fully grasp the extent of what I did. Magic.
You’ll live the rest of the adventure like you never left; it’ll be fun!
